Background Information about CMSS Hub and HUBzero

  1. Anders Barlow

CMSShub is a collaboration space and virtual laboratory for everyone associated with the La Trobe University Centre for Materials and Surface Science (CMSS) including academic staff, research and technical staff, CMSS facility users and collaborators. CMSShub is built on the HUBzero platform developed by Purdue University in the USA:

The best known and original instance of such a hub is nanohub.org which has more than 1.4M registered users:

CMSShub aims in the first instance bring together the broad CMSS user community, organised by both institutional affiliation and by utilisation of specific instruments and resources. We will use CMSShub for communications and sharing of information. There are wide-ranging opportunities for user-lead collaborative projects, forums, and discussions.

We will progressively introduce connectivity to our "Remote Laboratory Infrastructure (RLI)" lab management system, data processing and simulate tools, training courses and modules, and data repositories.

CMSShub is a work in progress. We welcome your feedback and suggestions.
